Circles and Colour Combo

This was the March Colour Combo at 52 {Christmas} Card Throwdown - lovely colours!!
I decided to make a card using these colours...

I started by matting a white square card blank with a Stampin Up Paper from my stash, in the appropriate colours.
I used a Fresh Brewed image 'Snow in Love Snowman'
and the words from a fresh Brewed Sentiment to play with on my computer
 to make a circular sentiment.
I used a few Promarkers to add colour to the Snowman.
Using circular nesting dies I cut orange circles on which to layer the images.

Finally I added buttons tied with ribbons.

I am going to link this card to

and finally Fresh Brewed March Candy Challenge for a possibility to win this:

LOC Anniversary Extravaganza Card #4

Well - we are in the last few days of the LOC Anniversary Extravaganza - I hope you have been looking at the amazing creations that have been posted on the blog so far!

But more than that we would like you to join in!!

We are being sponsored by many designers including:

  • Meljens Designs
  • Dilly Beans
  • Eiglas
  • Ike's Art
  • Smeared Ink
  • Sassy Studio Designs
  • Delicious Doodles
  • Limited Runs
  • The Stamping Chef
  • Aurora Wings
  • The East Wind
This time I used a Delicious Doodles image - Snowdrop fairy - to make an ATC.

I printed the digi three times and cut the fairy from two of them to layer up as shown.
I coloured each piece with Promarkers adding fine glitter.

I attached the first image to a light green (2.5 x 3.5 inches) piece of card matted with dark green.
I used foam pads to attach the second two pieces.

" A circle is round, it has no end. For that is how long we shall be friends!"

The current Get Inky! challenge is to use circles on your project -
Get out all your circle punches and stamps!

Last week I wrote a post explaining how I made the 'flowers' pictured above - they used circular rings of card, ribbons and thread - the sentiments are Get Inky! Stamps.

Today I am showing how I used them!

I was trying to use the Indian colours of Spring...'Holi' is celebrated here with abandon!

So my first card - I just added the embellishment to a white card blank, with rounded corners.
I had matted this with some hand-made paper (found in a local bazaar).

I punched a scalloped circle from this paper, on which to mount the sentiment.
The final touch was the lace around the edges!

My second card used the thread embellishment...I found the lovely thread locally too!

This time I mounted the 'flower' on top of a scalloped circle
and decided on a circular easel card using yellow card.

The 'leaves' of the 'flower' are also folded circles punched from green card.
I punched circles from the 'word' paper (from my scraps) to decorate the stand.

Hope you will join the Circle Challenge #10 at Get Inky!!

Friday Favourites - ATCs

Friday seems to be my day for making ATCs - and I must admit they are one of my favourite makes!

This Friday I made one using the Delicious Doodles image 'Snowdrop Fairy'
and you will see the post in a day or so...

Last week I made my Favourite Colour set.

I am happy to say after posting in India last Saturday, my package arrived in the UK
 in a matter of days!

My first one just featured this lovely embroidered butterfly embellishment
that I picked up in Naiff Street, Dubai
and also the swirly, shimmery, orange hand-made paper from here in India.

This paper features in three of these five ATCs - and there's a Birthday theme appearing in some too...

My second features 'triple stamping' - one of my favourite techniques - to see how
it's done look at a facebook photo album I prepared for a friend a year or so ago,
or a tutorial I wrote for Pretty Paper Studios, Dubai when I was on their DT.

Another butterfly!

I used embossing folders and ribbon for the final three, trimming to the size required.

Oh - my favourite colour is orange!!

LOC Anniversary Extravaganza Card #3

Well - we are nearing the end of the LOC Anniversary Extravaganza - I hope you have been looking at the amazing creations that have been posted on the blog so far!

But more than that we would like you to join in!!

We are being sponsored by many designers including:

  • Sassy Studio Designs
  • Delicious Doodles
  • Limited Runs
  • The Stamping Chef
  • Aurora Wings
  • The East Wind
This card uses an image from Smeared Ink - 'Devil Boy'
I printed it on white card, coloured it with Promarkers, and 'fussy cut' it
before mounting it on some orange card.

I started by making a black card base and added some purple circles to the right.
To the left, I added a paper from my scraps featuring skulls matted on the same orange.
The final touch was the addition of some sequins!

Maybe a slightly better photo...

Friday Favourites (ATC's)

My daughter's favourite 'teddy bear' when she was little was
'SuperTed'.

(Actually I think he still is her favourite!)

This is my version of SuperTed as an ATC:

Having found a picture on the net, I drew my version and coloured it with Promarkers.
I added some fine glitter to SuperTed's cape and front.
The background I made using distress inks and the corners were from a Tim Holtz die.
The final touch - a few stars!

The theme for this month at the Facebook Group UK ATC Swap is
'Your favourite theme from past swaps'

It is very hard to choose!

But I liked these...because of the techniques involved probably...

Follow my blog to see what I decide to do!!

Midway LOC -My Favourite Book

The current challenge at LOC is My favourite Book

(but there's also an 'anything goes' at the moment for LOC's First Anniversary)

I remember from my childhood, a favourite book -
it was a diary with a lock - and an embossed leather cover!

This was my inspiration for my DT card...and orange is my favourite colour!
I hope my card inspires you to enter this challenge!

Here, in India, all sorts of papers can be found!
The orange, swirly, shimmery, shiny hand-made paper I found in a local bazaar.
On this I printed Delicious Doodles 'The Raven' in black (reminiscent of Edgar Allan Poe!)
I also came across this embossed border - and to this I added 'wild honey' distress ink.
I cut 4 black corners on my Bigshot and added a keyhole embellishment and a be-ribboned key.

I am also going to link this to Quoth the Raven Tic Tac Toe
(Ribbon, Emboss, Shimmer)
and
Delicious Doodles Challenge #80
(Black plus orange)

Thoughtful Thursday

I have just written a post for Blue Moon Crafting Station

in advance of the next challenge at Get Inky! (using circle punches).

I had been thinking about Spring - the colours and flowers!

Here in India, Vasant Utsav or Holi  is celebrated with fervour. This Spring Festival starts from 17th of March for 15 days. It's a festival of colours & flowers.

The practice is to throw different dyes and water at people!! The kids love it!

The Indian colours of Spring are like these:

Anyway I made this wreath out of ribbons using the colours I think of as Spring-like:

It consists of 6 inch lengths of ribbon tied onto a metal frame made of 4 rings.

I then thought about using the same technique for card embellishments. Using a 1 inch circle punch I cut a hole from a thick card. I then used a 1 3/8in circle punch to cut around this hole to make a ring.
I then made the following 'flowers', one with ribbons, one with thread.
I think the one with thread has more of the Indian Spring colours.

I then used some Get Inky Stamps and the 1 3/8 circle punch to make 'faces' for my 'flowers'

I intend using one of these for my DT card for the next Get Inky! Challenge - follow my blog to see it soon!

LOC Anniversary Extravaganza Card #2

Well - we are now midway in the LOC Anniversary Extravaganza - I hope you have been looking at the amazing creations that have been posted on the blog so far!

But more than that we would like you to join in!!

We are being sponsored by many designers including:

  • Meljens Designs
  • Dilly Beans
  • Eiglas
  • Ike's Art
  • Smeared Ink
  • Sassy Studio Designs
  • Delicious Doodles
  • Limited Runs
  • The Stamping Chef
  • Aurora Wings
  • The East Wind
This card uses images from Smeared Ink - 'It's about time hourglass' and 'HalloKitty' - I was very happy to win these courtesy of a recent challenge at Wicked Wednesday ATC Challenge.

The hourglass pictures skulls and spiders...
the 'Hallo Kitty' is just the antithesis of the twee 'Hello Kitty'!

I decided to make this a monochromatic card using these images just in black and white.
I designed a stepper card blank especially for the images - 8 in. by 11.5 in. cut down the centre mark leaving 1.5 inches at each end and then scoring half the card at 1.5, 3, 8.5 and 10 ins.

This folds up showing the front section as the following:

The two images have been matted onto white and black card
embossed with a 'clock' embossing folder.
Another piece of black card was positioned behind the 'Hallo Kitty'.
I used SU's spider web to emboss another piece of white card and used a section of it bottom right.
Final touches were black gems and a spider.

This is the final result:

I am submitting this to Quoth The Raven Tic Tac Toe
Skull, 3D, emboss
(Edgar Allan Poe wrote that scary story of 'The Black Cat')

Just For Fun - Midway Reminder

We are halfway through the current challenge at Just for Fun - and it's an easy one - Anything Goes!

I thought I would make a card using my lovely new stamp
'The Little Door' from Darkroom door in Australia.

First I matted a dusky pink card base with a background. This I had made using
'shaving foam and food colouring' through a stencil. (See how here)

I then stamped the stamp using Versafine onto a different dark pink card
and added a couple of flowers!

Hope you like the idea!
