Emboss Resist

I was looking through some old cards and came across this one
I made for my Dad a couple of years ago:

Emboss Resist!!
Not done any for ages (look back here!!) so...

First take a good background stamp and stamp it with Versamark on white card...

The first one is a friendship stamp from SU Friendly, the second is an Inkadinkado Christmas lights stamp. Add opaque white embossing powder and heat set it.

Adding distress ink then highlights the unstamped parts...

I used this to make this simple Christmas card using a Christmas Pudding die from Create and Craft and red, brown and green card on a deckle card base.

However to make a card using the technique in my Dad's Birthday card first some 'open' dies need to be used. I used a butterfly and a candle tag on this stamped card.

I added yellow ink to the butterfly and candle - still in the dies as this will form small borders.

I added scattered twigs to the outer part - and some forest moss to the off cuts to use at some other stage!

Using some gold card as a base I made a tag, replacing the tag and butterfly in the base.

Finally I added some ribbon...

I will link this to the

Mod Squad Challenge - One Die cut (using at least one die cut)

I can now announce that I have been invited to join a new DT...
at THE HOUSE OF CARDS

I will be using this Emboss Resist technique on my first make which is posted here!

Happy Crafting!

  3. That is an awesome technique. Looks much more difficult than it is ( your easy to follow instructions are excellent). I must give this a try. Colour combo is striking. Thankyou for fluttering by my #45. Hugs Mrs A.
